Giving Thanks in November

November has begun and so has the Facebook feeds about what everyone is thankful for. Perhaps you have seen them or maybe even started one of your own.  Last year, I listed one thing I was thankful each day.  It really did make me sit down and think.  I think G. K. Chesterton was right when he said that we need to get in the habit of “taking things with gratitude and not taking things for granted.”

This year, I am trying something a little different.  I think pictures speak more than words, so this November I will be snapping pictures of things, people, and situations for which I am grateful.  God has blessed my family with many wonderful things, most I take for granted.  May I, during these 30 days, slow down enough to remember, smile, and give thanks to the One who has given me countless blessings.

Day 1:

On our arrival home from school today Ellie picked up the mail from our mailbox and found this postcard from her Sunday School teacher. She was BEYOND thrilled. Today I give thanks for hand written notes and this one in particular!
